For norsk
Certainly, a lot on the political, but one thing that really puts their political ideology and instrument in unison is the ability to let financial profit get priority over the need our globe has for natural life from all parts of nature.
I should
also mention all the other ocean areas and coastal landscapes in our long
reaching country that are threatened by long-term destruction of nature and
wildlife as a result of energy companies looking for more money, money that can
fill up accounts for investors. The threatened nature areas/communities that
have not been mentioned here, please excuse me.
There is no
difference in saying yes to the destruction of nature, which we need to
survive, whether on the southern or northern hemisphere of our common globe.
Erna Solberg, during her time as prime minister, has run a steady course
towards possible devastating developments/permits for the climate and
environment. The list is long;
- Yes, to dumping of mining waste in the fjords.
- Yes, to a record number of exploration licenses for oil and gas in marine areas controlled by Norway.
- Yes, to easy drilling in spawning areas for cod.
- Yes, to wind power industry in many municipalities in Norway, almost always against the wishes of the inhabitants (where was the local democracy ??).
This is
some of the highlights of the very devastating policy, for nature and the
people, the Solberg government is leading. The list could be longer if we
include unnecessary relocation of already built institutions, everything from
airports to museums.
The
alarming point is; in the minds of both, Bolsonaro and Solberg, investors'
interest in more money here and now is more important than the consideration of
diversity in nature and a habitable planet in the long term.
The major
consequences of Solberg and Bolsonaro's policies are likely to become most
visible after they are both done with politics and perhaps life as well. Therefore,
it is to be hoped that the common political ideology boat in which they sit
will capsize as soon as possible!
